It was with great sadness that I received the news of the death of
Professor
Andrzej Iwo Dobrzański
in the USA on January 3, 2025.
The Professor was a Warsaw insurgent and a German prisoner of war.
After returning to Poland, he completed his medical studies in Warsaw.
His father, Professor Antoni Dobrzański, was the Head
of the Department of Laryngology and the Dean at the Warsaw Medical University.
In his generosity, Professor Andrzej Ivo Dobrzański donated funds to the
Museum of the History of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw.
In our University Library, one of the rooms is named after the father of the
deceased Professor.
An outstanding physician, a specialist in orthopaedics and hand surgery,
has passed away. Despite years of working in the USA, he was very
attached to Poland and our shared University.
In gratitude for his services to our university,
the Senate awarded the Professor the "Medal for Services to the Medical University of Warsaw".
Thank you, Professor. May you rest in peace.
